Music

From soundtracks to musicals to learning songs to playing instruments or listening to the radio, music has always been a huge part of my life. There’s been choir, band, musicals, dance, singing performances, and piano lessons. Concerts attended, bands met, crowds and festivals, street fairs and concert halls, from classical to modern and most things in-between!

12 years Musical Theater from performing to crews of make-up and costume to ultimately managing it.
2 years Private Voice Lessons
50’s, 60’s, and musicals.
9 years of Classical Piano Lessons, Individual study with teacher in both theory and music.
2 years of Clarinet, Band member at school.

Dance

In addition to what you get exposed to for dance in musicals, it was also something I grew up taking lessons in and learning then continuing to enjoy until my body decided to start making other plans!

Ballet, tap, jazz, salsa, and some ballroom stylings to underwater acrobatics spurred by my years of gymnastics – it was all set to music and feeling the beat. Over 20 years of experience.

DJ and Writing

From the time I got my first radio and tape player combo I played “DJ”, over a decade of mixing tapes and writing the song titles into a story for the person, and then finally obtain a DJ position at an online streaming station in 1998-2000!

As mentioned on my writing page, one of the things I’ve often done is re-write lyrics, but I’ve also written the lyrics to a handful of songs.

Then there’s the actual music I’ve written, although this is something is something I hope to get back into again – so far it’s always been written for piano since that’s the easiest for me!

What’s with the Guitar?

You may be wondering about the picture of the guitar you clicked below to get to this page! That is one of my three guitars. No official training and I just play for myself. I have the full electric one in the picture, a classical grand acoustic, and a combination acoustic and electronic guitar. Pictures will eventually be added.

It’s something I really enjoy doing and love to play but strive to not make it anything more than that because I’m told I shouldn’t feel like I have to be the best, perfect, or master something in order to enjoy it. I think that’s important! Certainly more relaxing this way!
