“Limitless” Material

A world of endless possibilities More often than not, the creativity of your ideas far exceeds the possibilities of the materials you work with … – Hi-Macs

When I saw the splash of that on a website for Hi-Macs, it stirred to mind one of the things I love about writing!

Unlike creating artwork where we may run out of tried-and-true or raw forms of materials to use, the only thing that truly limits our writing is us.

OK, so maybe a few times when it’s that absolute rare occasion where you don’t have anything to write on (paper towel, napkin, paper, envelope, mailer, skin) and no writing utensil (pen, pencil, crayon, eye or brow liner, lipstick, fog on a window) but outside of those fewer and fewer times that’s been truly the case – we can technically write anywhere!

We are not confined to a specific time, place, location, or even material depending – nowadays with all the technology how often are you that far removed from a device? Most phones, all tablets, laptops, computers – they all have a way to jot down a note or a thought or even some cars have a way to make an audio note to yourself!

There are not many other types of skill or craft that I can think of that requires so little other than our imagination. We are the only to put limits on ourselves, at least after we have learned to create letters and spell words!
