While this is the first post to this blog, it’s far from my first and definitely is not my first time writing on the web which would have been back in 1995.
I’ve been practically a life-long writer, starting to write poetry at age 8, taught myself how to type at age 10 so I could start my first attempt at a novel. Since I’ve only grown in my writing through: journaling, roleplaying games that were freeform so you wrote everything in a collaboration with others each controlling only their own characters to taking notes at meetings, email and marketing letters, websites, resumes, informational articles, and super short stories.
The past few years I have returned to daily writing of some kind, wrote several alternative lyrics to songs, poetry, and began the foundational work on a few different stories that have been rolling around in my head. This has been amplified as I found my way into a Video Game Writing Certification Program at University of British Columbia. Taking those courses it showed me my strengths and areas of improvement, as well as opening my horizons that perhaps some of my stories would be better off as games.
This blog will be more geared at just routinely posting and sharing of my thoughts, general ideas, tips and tricks, and some of the navigating I’ve learned along the way to help make things happen, change, or improve. It might be personal, casual, or regarding being a homeowner. I hope I can share with you and that you find this helpful, inspiring, or if nothing else a warning.
Best wishes,
Katie
